Job Responsibilities
• This position will assist various members of the Financial Management and Planning group with the processing and reconciling of transactions in accordance with Public Sector Accounting standards. This particular role will have exposure to accounts receivable, accounts payable, and certain general accounting functions at the Region.
• Specific responsibilities include supporting the Accounting Services groups with processing of incoming and outgoing payments; assisting with reconciliations; and performing ad-hoc tasks as required.

Work Schedule
• 35 hours per week.
• Monday to Friday
• Approximate Duration: May 2024 to  August 2024.

• Must be enrolled in/returning to full-time post-secondary studies in September 2024 (upon completion of summer employment)

Town of Fort Erie- 2024 Summer Students

Job Positions
• Parks, Cemeteries and Beaches:
Physical labour; use of equipment, power tools and hand tools to support the operation and maintenance of Town parks, cemeteries, beaches, buildings and other public spaces. 
• Horticulture:
Physical labour; use of equipment and power and hand tools to prepare beds, plantings (flowers, trees, shrubs), general gardening, pruning and beautification. 
• Water/Wastewater Services:
Physical labour and data entry; use of equipment, power tools and hand tools, field locates and painting of fire hydrants, to support the operation and maintenance of Town infrastructure. 
• Museum:
Students will be stationed between two of the four sites managed by Fort Erie Museum and Cultural Services; the Fort Erie Railway Museum and the Fort Erie Historical Museum. Work schedule includes all weekends and holidays. Students are given a set schedule with the same two consecutive days off each week. Regular tasks include front/desk and customer service, gift shop sales, cleaning (buildings and sites), gardening, assisting with cataloguing and data entry and administrative support.
• Administrative: 
In an office environment you will perform office administrative tasks including, but not limited to, customer service, note taking, records management (filing, labeling, etc.), researching, word processing and data entry. 

Work Schedule
The Corporation is now accepting applications for summer student employment opportunities in 2024.  Students can work from April 15, 2024 to October 15, 2024; however, each position has a different duration. Schedules may include weekends and holidays and successful candidates are expected to be available for the entire summer season.

The hourly student rate is $18.88 plus 4% vacation pay. The successful candidate is also entitled to enroll in the Ontario Municipal Employee Retirement System (OMERS) pension plan.
